To the Rescue

After our handy dandy hike with Grandma and Grandpa Atkinson, we were on our way home and we got a phone call from Grandpa saying they were stuck. Now, Grandpa never calls us for help! It is always the other way around! We knew this had to be serious! When we came upon the scene I of course laughed my head off and told Grandpa that this was a "Kodak Moment!" They had gone on a back road to get home and attempted to cross the river above Gunlock but didn't make it! It felt good rescuing the Grandparents for once!

When we would get up to a nice big rock the first thing my kids would hear was "Sit down and don't move" Because of the huge drop-offs. I am usually a nervous mom but when Grandpa gets nervous it makes mom more nervous! And grandpa was nervous.

We like to go hiking on holidays BUT since usually everyone else in the country is also hiking on holidays we like to hike with Grandpa Atkinson. We refer to Grandpa A as "George of the Jungle." This particular hike was more exciting because we had a 300 foot climb, almost straight up to get to an arch. It was nerve racking to say the least.

300 foot drop.
Yikes!
Grandpa's hike are not easy so I was very proud of my kids for being so tough! We did miss Brian, Jodi and their family! This is the first hike we have been on without them and we were VERY sad they couldn't be there with us!
Miss you B, J, T, A J0, and S!!!

Jake and Chet

To celebrate the end of school we headed out to "the sticks" to hang with our friends, the Bowler's and the Miller's. We had dutch oven potatoes and chicken which by the way was DI-VINE! The kids climbed and slid down a hill right by us maybe 20-30 times. They were filthy dirty! We came home with more "mountain" than I cared to but we had a blast!

Chet the First Grader
Chet graduating from Kindergarten was an emotional experience for me! Friday before he was to graduate one of his playground buddies (James Farnsworth) passed away. They started the program by dedicating the graduation to him. There was not a dry eye in the room! I can't even imagine losing one of my children and I hope to never have to experience it! My heart goes out to the Farnsworth Family! Because of this, I made it a new goal to hug my kids tighter and love them more! Life is so short and I never want to regret spending time with loved ones! Especially my little ones!
